"Man in a Golden Room"
Oil on canvas
16x20 inches
July 2013
I did a quick line drawing a while ago of a plain wobbly man that seemed to big for the page, like he was trapped in it. Sometimes I feel like confining art to a perfect rectangle goes against what art means to me at all. This man bent in an umcomfortably-looking way and half hiding was meant to convey the feeling of being trapped in something so square that everyone seems to like (which is why is in a golden room, not a bruised purple room).
What does it make you think of or feel?
and sculpts and prints... Successful and unsuccessful work because that is what the Internet is for.

This is my zoomed-in copy of da Vinci's La Scapigliata. One half is done in the classical style, while the other is done in a pointalist fashion.
